Kat I have tested positive for H pylori before and just took antibiotics for it (turned out it was actually my gallbladder causing my issues). For future reference tho if u have had it before u will always test positive for it even if it's not an active infection or however u want to say it.

Hi Dream_small, you are correct. The results of the sample showed no active H-Pylori, so no antibiotics needed thank goodness! I had my first NUT appt and had lost 6 lbs from when I was in the office 8 days prior so she was pretty happy! I'm only 12 lbs away from my needed 18 lb loss for surgery. Mouse, I hope you are recovering well after your surgery! Prayers for everyone pre-op or post-op!

I'm brand new to WLS as well, just started my "official" journey on 9/28/15 and won't be able to have the sleeve procedure for 6 months due to my insurance. I've read the posts and am so very thankful that this forum is here! I do have the support of my best friend but my hubby isn't being real supportive yet...I bought the "The Big Book" yesterday and am reading it as well to try and educate myself so I can explain the pro's of why it's so important for me to do this for me!

Anyway, good luck to all of you!!!

Welcome KHottAZ! I bought the big book as well, and am half way thru. It is full of information on the sleeve! So much so, that when I saw my internist he said "boy, you already know much of what I was going to tell you", and I told him about the book which he wasn't aware of but said now he can advise patients if they want to buy it. I have also learned so much from my brother and sister sleever's on this website. The book cannot answer all the questions floating in my head so it is nice to have people to ask about things that have gone thru it. You will come to love this site as part of an extended family so to speak. They are there to support you thru the good and the bad without judging, to lend an ear or shoulder if you are sad or happy and just want to share in an anonymous way. I won't see surgery until probably January. So again, we all welcome you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
