I am 38. 5'4". Highest weight 265, currently at 250. I have no co-morbities but I have very achy joints. Hips, back, elbows, shoulders, and most recently knees when I climb stairs. I am equally excited and terrified.

Awesome @@meldan111 I will def be thinking about you when I go. It's awesome to find others who date is the same as yours.

Finally got my surgery date. November 9th. I'm excited and nervous all at once. All of a sudden I am doubting whether I can do this (as far as the food part goes). Is anyone else having any doubts? I would love to find a November buddy??

Hi! I am Nov 16th. I was all anxious wondering when I would be scheduled. Then as soon as I got my date fear and doubt kicked in. I am gathering that it is pretty normal. So I got scheduled on Monday, and since then I feel equally scared and excited. I go back and forth. I am totally going through with it, and mentally counting down the days but I am nervous as heck!! I thought I would be upset that it so close to Thanksgiving but I'm not, at all. I keep wondering what I with feel and look like at this time next year!

My oldest daughter asked me, Mom what's the plan for Thanksgiving dinner this year. My sleeve date is Nov 2nd. I should still be on purée food and I refuse to eat purée turkey stuff and cranberry on Thanksgiving. So I told her Thanks giving will be on Dec 3rd in this house when I can eat solids.

My date is the same as yours...since I'm cooking for people who won't know about it, I'll just plead "stomach issues" and push some food around on my plate.

HopeandAgony, glad to hear that I am not alone. I am definitely going through with the surgery as well. I read about some people that are making a post surgery 'bucket list' of things that they want to do after surgery that they were not able to do before surgery. I like that idea. I think I am going to do this. I'm totally looking forward to being able to do what the "normal" weight people can do. I'm sure my husband is excited about that too! Keep in touch and good luck to everyone! I know it is going to be hard, emotional, scary and about a hundred other things, but we can do this!!! We deserve it!!!

I'm trying to start a list too. I've never heard of "injury chicken flavored protein". What exactly is that, fabnsab?

I was thinking about getting some 2 oz & 4 oz containers. I think that will be helpful. I have heard some people buy little forks, knives and spoons. I wonder if that is necessary or if it really helps? If anyone has any tips, I'd love to hear them?

It's unjury chicken Soup flavored Protein powder. It's really good but beware that when you add any Protein to hot liquid (over 140F) that it tends to clump. One solution is to mix the powder with a small amount of warm tap Water (should be a thick liquid consistency) and then add that to the hot Water.< /p>

I am buying SF jellos, bouillon cubes, the Vitamins the NUT says I will need, and I already have a Yeti rambler cup. Pretty pricey but keeps drinks cold or hot for hours which will be huge for me when I have to sip 64oz, or as close as I can get to 64 oz, of whatever liquid I am drinking.

I also purchased a food scale for weighing portions further down the road.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
