After surgery my taste buds changed dramatically. I found that I could not even drink the Water in the hospital because of a very strong taste of chlorine. Crystal Lite was something that I relied on for my Fluid requirements for the first year. After that I expanded to good English teas, coffee and no sugar added Cocoa.

I love the Wyler pink lemonade! It only $1 for an 8 pack. I've been struggling too but the best way I have been doing it is just making myself drink it and alternating (water, diet soda, Water, Powerade, etc) Soda and caffeine are going to be the hardest thing to give up!

Even filtered water?

I agree with the above posts! I have RTD Powerade Zero on hand for grab-b-go. Otherwise I have a nice stash of crystal light at work. My personal favorites are grape, lemonade and fruit punch. I also have used Mio's. The dollar tree in my area usually has some options too. I think I've seen the Crush flavors mentioned above.

Yes, the soda crush. They also make these sugar free packets.

I'm on like my 50th packet of pink lemonade from crystal light lol. I recently got Snapple sugar free peach tea packets and fruit punch. We'll see how it goes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
