is this a stall?

Recommended Posts

So I start week 2 today. In my first week I lost 20 lbs (yay), but these last couple days I haven't lost anything. I have been following the diet plan and the recommended exercises my Dr gave me, plus I chase a 2 year old all day so I don't think that I am doing anything wrong. I have seen people here talk about stalls, but I thought that would happen later. Is this a stall or something else entirely?

I don't know if it is a stall but it is pretty common to happen around week 2 so don't fret, just keep doing what you are supposed to do and your body will catch up!!

I think a stall is really defined as 2 weeks without any loss at all (though some will say 1 week is a stall). Either way, if it makes you nuts, stay off the scale. I actually gained the first couple of weeks because of fluids from the hospital, so the fact that you have already lost 20 pounds is pretty amazing. Give your body a chance to catch up. If you haven't done it already, take starting measurements. These will be very important as you move through the process because you will often lose inches when you aren't losing pounds. Don't get discouraged. Remember this is a long journey and the pounds will eventually add up. I was thinking this morning how going from 30 pounds down to 50 pounds down seemed like forever and then 50 to 80 seemed nearly overnight as I look back on it (though it wasn't). You are doing great if you are following the plan. Stay focused on the food, fluids and exercise and it will all come off eventually.

It would more likely be a lack of pooping. Not being crass, just reality. Weight yourself after a BM.

I have never weighed myself daily. It would bum me out if I didn't see progress, our bodies are too complicated and what you see on the scale is dependent on so many factors it's hard to pin point. I have weighed twice a week since surgery and I feel it gives me enough info to up my game if I need to without making me crazy.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
