Diet coke = not food - don't do it

Cookies = junky, carby food makes me hungry when I eat it - don't do it

Bread= limited quantities of good quality bread can be a healthy part of the diet. I really eat very little bread, even years post surgery

Just out of curiosity, can I have your comments on bread, diet coke and Cookies?

Bread - Rarely and definitely not in early weight loss stages.

Diet Coke - Poison. It's not food and not healthy even "in moderation". Never touch the stuff.

Cookies - Even less rarely than bread, but once in a blue moon, okay.

In limited quantities, yes, and on special occassions.

bread tends to make me sick, so I don't eat much of it. You can eat it if you choose to. Minimizing consumption of bread, Pasta, etc, is good for a diet, and with a sleeve it will potentially be a slider that fills you up on carbs instead of Protein. You can eat it though, just don't eat a lot of it.

I refused to give up diet coke and I drank it the entire time. I've maintained at goal weight. Diet Coke is bad for you. You should not drink it. Are you able to drink it after the first 2 months of recovery following the sleeve? Yes. Is it any worse for you with a sleeve than without it? No.

I love Cookies. I eat them maybe once every few months, I enjoy them, and then I'm good for awhile. You can eat Cookies all you want- you just won't lose weight quickly and won't maintain if you're still eating junk. Enjoy them once in a while, and then skip them.

The nice thing about the sleeve is that after recovery there is literally nothing you are banned from eating. If you make bad food decisions, you pay for them just like you did before the sleeve. Enjoy a sandwich occassionally, eat a few cookies if you want to, probably don't drink diet coke as much as I do....use your discretion and you will be fine.

Carbonation hurts my stomach so no on that.

bread very occasionally but it sits like a lump in my stomach.

Now that I am at goal I confess I have a cookie a couple times a month. Sometimes once a week even! I run a lot so I can eat more than some.

Bread. A little, toasted or it gets stuck for me.

Diet Coke. Gross. I like Coke Zero.

Cookies. Yum. I eat them occasionally but I don't make a habit of it.

Same. I have just recently started having a Coke Zero every once in a while. Doesn't hurt anymore. I don't know if that's a good thing....

I like a piece of 60 calorie Daves Killer 21 grain bread toasted with an egg or low fat Peanut Butter. Not toasted it sits like a rock.

Cookies are rare. I'm a glutton with some of them, and I can't stop at just one sometimes. Plus I'll crave MORE!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
