Almost 6 weeks post-surgery and STILL learning!

Recommended Posts

I forgot to take my Multivitamin after Breakfast this morning so I decided to take it right now. YEAH RIGHT. Immediately felt like I was going to throw up....my mouth started to Water (like it always does right before I'm going to vomit)....but I sat down, closed my eyes, and WILLED myself to not throw up. I'm at work, so it would be rather embarrassing! After about 5 minutes it passed. I know the NUT said to take the Vitamins with meals...I guess he really meant it! I'm not taking a chance like that again. I haven't had that feeling since the first week of surgery and I am not trying to repeat it ever again.

Hope all the 8/17 sleevers and other August sleevers are doing well! I see the NUT again for my 6 week check up on Monday. So far I am pleased as punch with my progress.

I take a Gummy Multivitamin and liquid d3. sometimes a gummy Calcium. I usually take them in the morning before I eat. haven't had any problems so far.

I actually think I'm going to switch to a regular Vitamin after I'm through with this jar of gummies.< /p>

So, was it because you took the Vitamins on an empty stomach or was it because of not taking them at a certain time? I'm still pre-op, so just asking to learn.

Whitney - I lost 28lbs since 8/17...the other weight I lost pre-op since 4/1.

Ryan - for me it was because I took it on an empty stomach. My NUT said to take my multi and Calcium AFTER EATING! I will not forget again!

@@Margie122 ohh, ok. I was like, man, did I pick the wrong doctor.

My week says I can have Beans. Do you know if this would include a 'black bean burger pattie'?

Whitney - I would think you could have a bean burger patty. I would eat it slowly and chew it very well. You could always call your doc's office or the NUT and find out for sure. I've been eating Beans for about two weeks now.

@margie122 What kind of Beans do you eat? Out of the can? Cook them down?

Hi Margie !! I'm an 8/17 sleever too ! I use PatchMD Patches you stick on your skin any were you choose. I use B12, Calcium with VitD & a multi. It's so convenient. I only take my Omeprazole and Iron orally. So convenient and reasonably priced.

(Google it). I have my labs done mid October and I am hoping they are good.

Wow, you can take your multi-vitamins with food. If I take them with any food or liquid in my stomach, it is instant vomiting for me. Isn't it strange how all of our bodies react differently to things?

I have BariActiv Vitamins and I take them on an empty stomach all the time. They are spaced out during the day, so if I didn't take them on an empty stomach it would be impossible.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
