Well, to show everyone how funny life is. I'm apparently not the size I thought I was! lol I just went to try on to "see where I was" my 3x clothes and they are all too big or getting there so...looks like I'll definitely be hitting that XXL sweater sooner than later! Kind of a funny thing to worry about losing enough to fit it and now I'm wondering how long I'll get to keep it after surgery!

I live in Parker and work in Highlands Ranch. I am more than happy to pass along my 18's as I am finished with them. I really love some of my clothes and it's bittersweet to see them go.

No, I had my surgery at Parker Adventist and haven't gone to the support groups yet because I am in the middle of marching band season with my daughter. My life becomes mine again in November. I will save the clothes and happy to pass them on to you; I'll let you know when they stop fitting which I am hoping is soon. I am stalled right now and trying not to be frustrated. As you can tell I only recently found this forum and it's been a wealth of information since I feel like crap most of the time and quite often wonder why I even did this.

@@sharkgirl how far out are you? I know for some the beginning is very difficult especially with the stalls. My NUT keeps saying that we have no idea how bad we are going to feel in the beginning because we have this whole relationship built up around food and we have no idea how actually hard it is when that crutch that has gotten us through so many bad times all the sudden is taken away from us and we have to cope without it. Sometimes I think we need to deal with our baggage to make the weight go otherwise it pops up from time to time to slow us down. For me, that's probably going to be my biggest hurdle...the revisits to the painful parts of my life to put them all where they belong.

I am a little over 4 weeks post surgery. My issues have been low blood sugar (a new issue) and just overall feeling lousy. Some days I feel great and others I am very sick to my stomach. Some foods I am fine with and the next time the same food makes me sick. Due to the blood sugar issues working out was a struggle and now I've lost some of my stamina. I was used to walking 3 miles a day and now I am struggling to get 2 miles in. I am trying to be patient but it's hard when my body is failing me so to speak. Of course, this is for long term benefits but I like instant gratification. lol

I hear ya! I'd like to pretend I'm going to wake up from surgery and just float across the room happy with no pain and no complications, but realistically I know better. I keep trying to plan for "worse case scenarios" so when they do hit, I'll go "and I saw this coming and my planned response is..." Because I think I'll flip out if I haven't planned what to do. Thankfully my NUT is awesome and I feel like no matter what happens, like if I had the slow sugar problem, that she could and would navigate me out of it pretty easy enough. She's kind of expensive to pay for out of pocket, but I'd be willing to give you her # if you'd like to try an appt with her and see if she can help.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
