The last supper...

Recommended Posts

I was planning on having my last supper at Dave and Busters, however my surgeon ended up having to move my surgery up by three weeks so the day they called to reschedule was the day I had to start my pre-op diet. So didn't get Dave and Busters. Honestly, it was probably for the best because than I didn't feel so hungry those first three days which I found to be the worst of the two weeks.

My "last meal" went on for the whole weekend before my pre op diet. I kind of just ate whatever I wanted, sushi, pizza, chinese, junk food

I still lost 50 lbs before surgery

I went to town eating everything I could on the last supper. Snickerdoodles, Kings Hawaiian rolls, Popeyes chicken, mashed potatoes, strawberry soda, AND costco cake. Now that I think about it, this highlights how one can have such an unhealthy addiction to food. I'm surprised I didn't have a larger starting weight than what I did...

I got my surgery date on a Wednesday afternoon exactly 2 weeks prior to surgery. I was at work and had to work late that night and wouldn't get home until 10PM. I packed my dinner. It was something healthy, I'm sure! I was eating so healthy in those days I'd lost almost 60 lbs by then (In 2 months!) I was allowed to have Breakfast the next morning before the drive north to pick up my liquid diet materials from the doctor's office. So my last meal prior to the pre-surgery liquid diet was a few pieces of bacon and 2 fried eggs - cooked by my mom. I don't even think I had biscuits or toast with it! SO BORING! I ended up losing ~12 more lbs on the liquid diet, -70 overall from my HW. I do kind of wish I had had some kind of "fancy" (or just indulgent) last meal. But it seems silly now. A little over 9 months out from surgery and almost 220 lbs down from my HW one year ago. No regrets!

In general 'food funerals' and 'last suppers,' although they might make us feel better and/or help with the emotional build up to the pre-op diet, in the long run usually hurt far more than they help, setting us up cognitively and subconsciously (and biochemically) for a restrictive/uninhibition cycle.

To actually answer the question, I think I had a slice of GF pizza and a salad, with the last of my homemade rootbeer.

I had every intention of having my "food funeral" or "last supper" the day before my preop diet was to begin, and then I got busy, and my hubs got busy, and it didn't happen. lol But, I guess it wasn't supposed to happen. So.....I did not binge before I started the 1 week preop. I lost 15 pounds on preop. Really glad I didn't have time to binge! :)

I felt sorry for my husband who would not be eating out and I would not be preparing big meals anymore. The night before starting the 3 day liquids only phase, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Ruth's Chris Restaurant. I had no guilt or regrets but I was definately ready to make major changes in my life!

I still look back on my "last meal" fondly. My wife made my favorite, hot Breakfast sausage I made from a pig I had butchered, gravy, and scratch made biscuits. Oh, and a fried egg on top of the biscuits, but underneath the gravy.

I could probably eat the sausage gravy now, I always made it lean. But the flour for the gravy would have to be coconut flour. And the biscuits are out of the question entirely. But honestly, I don't miss it. It was a great thing for that time of my life, but it is not something I will need. I have watched my kids eat it right in front of me while I ate a one egg omelette with spinach or ham. I love the appreciation they show my wife for making it and that is good enough for me.

I think that was why it was so special to me. My wife is hispanic and this was something that she never made before me and she only made it because I liked it. It was just another way that she said I love you without words. Now she measures out portions and it has the same feeling to me. She wants me to succeed and that says I love you more than the food ever did.

I ate a half a watermelon last night all in one sitting! I figured stuffing myself like that is never going to be possible again so I enjoyed every bite.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
