I live in Brigeport and am hoping to have a gastric sleeve operation with Dr. Nagle at Northwestern Memorial downtown. Still in the early stages of the process.

Post surgery, on the 29th. of March. St.Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove. Dr. J. Kane is a miracle!!!
The hole surgery was 1and half. The nurses at the bariatric, ward are the best. Especially Jenn Lopez, she also had G-sleeve and she gave me a lot of support. I am still working on the food intake and Water. But, the rest is fine, I am happy with my choice and the doctors and the hospital

I got my surgery date, it's May 10th at UIC with Dr. Hassan... I'm just anxious to get it started and over with!

I am a little over 3 weeks out after surgery at UIC with Dr. Ganjamei. I have only positives to say about the team. Surgery wasn't super stressful. On surgery day they are super efficient and get you prepped and ready in a super chill way.

After surgery, I was hurting a lot for the first 3 days and feeling like crud, but I never had a complication or had trouble swallowing or anything. They do meticulous work, so you're in good hands.

Good luck!!!!

I had surgery on May 10th... As of yesterday I was 54 pounds lighter since May 2nd. Recovery was good for me, the only real adjustment that I had to make, and am still working on is that my eyes are way bigger than my stomach.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
