Any sleevers have small babies?

Recommended Posts

I have a 10 month old and a 2 year old who are stuck to me like glue and I'm a little worried about what it will be like caring for them right after surgery. My husband is amazing, cares for them well and is very supportive BUT I'm their Mama ????. Anyone out there been through this? Help!

I have a 14 month old, and I'm 3.5 weeks post op. I'm a SAHM, so he is a major momma's boy. I can't lift him (well I'm not supposed to), and that's really hard! The first two weeks I definitely couldn't lift him. I couldn't even change his diaper because he is so wiggly, and I couldn't do the sudden movements, and it was tough getting up from a seated position on the floor. He would reach for me a lot, and it made me sad not to lift him. I would have my hubby pick him up and put him next to me so we could snuggle :)

Now I can lift him a few times a day, and I'm not in pain at the end of the day, so I think I'm pretty much ok.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
