What does your plan say? I was on full liquids at a week out. I had 3 8oz shakes a day and would sometimes have a snack of Jello, pudding, or potato Soup.< /p>

Ditto, I was on full liquids. I did 2 shakes a day and non chunky Soup or veg broth for dinner with unflavored Protein powder added.

However programs vary. Some have a clear liquid phase week one and some go straight to purees. You should call and check your program for recommendations.

At one week I was eating three mini-meals of soft Protein and Protein shakes. A mini-meal consisted of 1-2 oz of things like cottage cheese, yogurt, ground meat, deli turkey, etc. Things that were soft and I could chew to a mush. My surgeon's plan is pretty progressive. I'm now 3.5 weeks out, and feeling great!

I should add, I was on the above meal schedule starting on day 3! I certainly couldn't get even 1 oz in at a time the first few days, but it was nice to be able to chew, and have actual food at meal times.

I am 3 days post-op. I'm eating sf Jello, chicken broth, as much Water as I can stand, Decaf tea, and just ordered a snow cone machine for my shaved ice treats. My grandson will be pleased!! Anyway, I am to be on Clear Liquids for two weeks, then go to stage two. I've also got popsicles, made with sugar free MIO, and other Water flavors. I found the plastic tubes for these at a Kitchen Collections store at our outlet mall..Must eat slow. Really important.

My plan has Clear Liquids for 2 weeks (water, broth, SF Jello, herbal tea - and Protein powder) - then week three I start 1 soft egg per day for 1 meal - eating only as much as I can tolerate - 2-3 bites at first (using a baby/toddler spoon) - take 20 minutes to eat it slowly - stop when full and throw away any remaining egg; make a new one the next day - that's week 3 - egg week. Week four introduces soft Proteins for 'at least' one meal per day (liquids with protein are for the rest)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
