I was in the shower and was deeply thinking and a thought came across to me that I'm having a hard time answering.

Where does fat go when it's lost?

Does it break up? Does it just go poof? Do we store it some where? Do we poop it out?

Another one was what are they going to do with my stomach?

Throw it away? Make hand puppets?

I guess things I can ask my surgeon.

Lol that's funny, I like the hand puppet statement. That part I don't know but for the other part I think as the fat dissipates it is excreted along with our waste.

"Although the number of fat cells in your body cannot be reduced, it is possible to make them smaller. When you lose weight, the size of your fat cells will shrink, leaving you with a leaner, slimmer physique. Although it's true that trimming fat is all about burning more calories than you consume, specific nutrients, notably Protein, can help speed up the process."

I asked my surgeon if I could have my stomach in a jar. He said no they send it off to be checked for tumors and stuff. I hope I at least get pictures. When I had my tubs tied 6 years ago the surgeon took pictures for me.

The fat is used by the body as fuel, and ends up as CO2 by-product and is exhaled into the atmosphere. We are all contributing to global warming!

And your stomach is considered human medical waste. The folks in pathology will check it out and then it gets disposed of appropriately, typically in an incinerator.

It's broken down and travels in the blood stream to the cells that need the fuel.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
