Hello Nikki! I'm Sydney, 24 years old, and I am actually having surgery on the 29th of September. I'd be happy to kind of walk through my surgery with you so you know what to expect if you like :)

Hi I'm Kacy! My surgery is September 30th! I'm having the gastric bypass. I'm 22 and welcome to the journey! It's a long and eventful one so learn as much as you can, while you can, because trust me 9 months goes fast! What surgery are you looking at getting?!

That's awesome! If you ever have any questions about anything feel free to ask!!!

I also have a YouTube channel which walks you through my journey to bypass! Obviously I'll have a lot more to post about once I'm a post op but watching other people's experiences is a great way to prepare yourself for yours. There are tons of people on here who share their story and I found it really helpful during my 7 month wait.

What made you decide on the bypass?

That's great! I love watching YouTube videos. I know each person has their own experience good and bad. I thought about the sleeve initially but felt the bypass would fit me long term. My mom had the bypass and had amazing results. She went from 400 to 150 since 1999.

That's amazing! Just search Kirstyn Cotto and you should find my page! I don't know anyone personally who has had the surgery but it's still great to hear all of the success stories. I have bad acid reflux so that was one of the main reasons I chose gastric bypass.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
