ellie123 374 Posted September 23, 2015 So I was scheduled to have my Lapband Removal/Gastric Sleeve/ Gallbladder removal surgery on Sept 29th, but yesterday during the pre-op visit, it came to light that my surgeon, Dr. Fox, will be leaving for a month long vacation 2 days after my surgery! Given that he’s doing so much, he thought it unfair to leave and not be here should by chance I have any kind of complication. My logical side concurs, but I was so close to getting this done!!! I guess it was not meant to be…. So now I’ve been pushed back to November 2nd. I guess I was more prepared for this than I gave myself credit for, because I feel disappointed, empty, and a little purposeless…much like a deflated balloon. Another 6 weeks to wait!!! *Sigh*. It was like hurry up and then brick wall. I’d made all these arrangements and had visions of a much smaller me on Thanksgiving… Brooding, Ellie
Proud2BMe 1,016 Posted September 23, 2015 Stay positive. Use this time to lose more weight. If you stay on your pre-op diet for the next 6 weeks you might just surprise yourself by how much weight you lose.
ellie123 374 Posted September 23, 2015 Thank you I will try! Since finding out yesterday I have not broken it. The only thing I miss on the SouthBeach Supercharged Phase 1 diet that I miss is fruit. I've never restricted myself in fruit :\
mouse1972rb 24 Posted September 23, 2015 Aww huggs! And its a good doc that wants to be there for complications and not leave it for others. Heh heh eat a slice of pizza for me!! At least you get some relaxation from preop diet ????
meljea8 21 Posted September 23, 2015 @ellie123- stay strong, you're right where God needs you to be. You have a huge support system on here to help you through. I know you can keep going. This extra month will give you the time to prepare even better now. You'll be able to get things ready to go to the hosp & for the days right after.
The Candidate 3,215 Posted September 23, 2015 Hang in there. It's hard to have your hopes grounded for a period, but the time will pass by more quickly than you can imagine. I think it's a good sign of the competence of your surgeon that he had the forethought to consider his availability during your recovery.
