New stabbing incision pain 5+ weeks out

Recommended Posts

Hi all, my wounds never really hurt before, no sign of infection like redness or ozing etc.

However about 2 inches above my main central scar (and sometimes on under the scar it's self) the last two days on certain movements or pressure applied feels like i am being stabbed with a small knife! It does not hut constantly but when it does it's a 9/10 on the pain scale and I yell out.

I'm no expert but I don't think it's my sleeve, I think it's the muscle or fat or whatever is in there at that more shallow depth.

I don't know what could be causing this this far out - I've not done anything to strain it so it' seems strange it has suddenly occurred. Anyone else had this and a diagnose?

I have been experiencing that and my NP said it was the dissolving stitches inside separating from the flesh as it heals. I know how bad it hurts when you move a certain way. I put a warm pad their and it helped.

All the best and hope you feel better soon

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
