Heart burn, and port pain

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm new, but I've been having heart burn for about the past 6mos. I had my last fill over a year ago, but I then got pregnant soon after that fill and have not been back to the doctor since. My daughter is almost 9mos. old now and I was planning on going back to the doctor to have just a check up. I've been having heart burn, and I take an anti-acid pill once a day or so and that helps totally. On top of that, I do have some port pain. Since losing close to 70lbs my port sticks out a lot and I think it needs to be put somewhere else. I can feel it very easily and it's constantly bugging me.

I was just looking for some advice and any suggestions.

Thanks!

Hi,

I've had my band almost a year now and lost 55 lbs. but I am now experiencing serious gastric relux and port pain. My port sticks out and is very hard and uncomfortable. I'm on Prilosec and that seems to help, although in my lap band book it says you never get reflux with the band and if you do there is something wrong- but my doc says no it is ok.

Yeah, I was told that too. My doc says my reflux should go away and I shouldn't need my nexium anymore.

I have not had any heartburn since I had the band put in. I haven't taken any medicine either. Usually after two days without my Aciphex I would be in misery. I'm elated that it can do that. I've had heartburn for 14 years. I hope y'alls gets better!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
