Migraine. Is excedrin ok?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, my surgery was 9/2. TOM is here for the 2nd time since and this time, I have a MASSIVE Migraine. Is it safe to take excedrin migraine. Ingredients are just Tylenol + Caffeine. Not an NSAID.

Also, I have muscle spasms in my back and prior to surgery, I took valium for the spasms. Anyone know if it's ok to take that as well?

My dr is out on vacation. :-(

So sorry to hear this, VanessaVSGforme! Can you lay down in a quiet, dark room?

Your doctor doesn't have an on-call line? Call you primary and ask their advice.

Hi BLERDgirl, hope all is well. I read lots of ur updates and just want to say THANK YOU. I've learned a lot from you thus far. :) As for my PCP, I have a message into them. they were in a "meeting" all am. I called my bariatric surgeon and was told by the girls up front that they texted the dr. No answer yet. I know excedrin will not be safe as it indeed IS a nsaid. I wish there was like a list that we could print and have on hand of the different over the counter and prescription RX that are safe and not safe. Maybe the office does have one and I just never got it. Will check when they call me. As of now, the Migraine is subsiding. I drank some chamomile tea...and the dark helps. Thank you for helping :)

When they call back, maybe have a conversation about any ongoing issues that you may need to take meds for and get their advice. I have to take Zyrtec daily and if it's an emergency benedryl. It's a pain in the butt because the antihistamines slow your metabolism down, but since I have no choice I made sure up front that it would be okay. Migraines are awful. You need to be able to treat them effectively. Hopefully they can get an answer for you.

Definitely, I actually have a little list of questions for when "hopefully" dr will call me back. I hate to bother him but today was an eye opener. I feel stuck. All I have is liquid Tylenol and that, unfortunately, did not help. The Migraine could have been WAY worse with nausea and blurred vision and I thank goodness it didn't and hasn't turned into that!! ☺

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
