7 wks. post-op not enough protein

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I am 7 weeks post-op. Worried I'm not getting in enough Protein. I am really having a tough time eating any meat and Greek yogurts are way too thick so they get stuck. I have no appetite and I have to literally make myself eat and drink all day, (It's kind of surreal ) I am lucky if I can get 60-70 grams of protein a day. Is this normal for 7 weeks? I have an appt. with my nutritionist on Wednesday and we will review my food journals. Just wanted to see where everyone else was at with getting in enough of their protein.

Someone at my work let me try their Isopure Apple melon drink. It's so delicious and those bottles have 40gm of Protein. I'd recommend that. It's pretty thin like juice. Just drink it with ice. It helps.

I was going to mention Isopure. I love the Apple melon, grape and fruit punch and I REALLY love the 40gms of Protein and they are not a shake! :P

I actually put mine in the freezer for a couple hours, get that "slushy" thing going. Seems like the colder it is, the better it tastes to me.

Good luck! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
