I use the Eddy by Camelbak. The built-in straw has a bite closure which prevents air from getting into the straw. :)

Some people find these useful, some don't. Just like with food, nothing about the sleeve stops you from grazing all day and eating every calorie you otherwise would. Since you want to be drinking your Water, you shouldn't get into the habit of taking little sips that are required very soon out, because you will then become accustomed to only having a small amount when in fact you need more because you are able to tolerate more exercise.

I started out sipping and returned to normal as my body could handle it. I have a variety of Water bottles. I have a bite valve one from camelback, one by polarbottle, Thermos Intak Hydration Bottle with Meter, a britta waterbottle and a few no name bottle. I also have a Rubbermaid shaker bottle for my Protein drinks and my nutra bullet has a to go lid as well.

The thing you have to remember is sipping too fast or gulping will be uncomfortable at first. Just like eating too quickly. You will eventually be able to take normal bites and sips, but early on you need to keep that in mind.

Someone on this site recommended the Tervis Tumbler. I ordered the cup, lid and handle from Amazon and LOVE it! No condensation and ice cubes last all day long. Since I've started using my Tervis, I have finally started getting all of my fluids in. Sorry I sound like a commercial - but I seriously love this thing :)

I love the Tervis sports bottle. They have the handy lid you can carry them by, they can fall over in your bag and won't leak.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
