How long before you were able to drink water like before your sleeve?

Recommended Posts

I love water! And I miss drinking a glass of cold Water. How long before you were able to drink water like before you were sleeved. If I do more than a sip of room temp water (yuck!) I feel like I'm dying. Took me 2 hours to do 8 oz. I'm thirsty!

A few months maybe, it doesn't take that long. I can drink normally as long as there is no food in my stomach.

I'm two years post-op and I can't drink Water like I used to. I can sip, which I do, generally with a straw, to my heart's content. But actually just glugging down a big bottle of Water, nope, I barf it right back up and it actually hurts my esophagus.

I am a month out and can drink fairly normally as long as I don't have food in my tummy. I can't gulp that puts some pressure in my tummy but I can take 3 fairly large mouthfulls right after one another. Everyone is different, just depends on you. Try different temps of Water. I can drink ice cold Water easier than warm or room temperature. Good Luck!

About 3 months. For the longest time I had to take baby sips. I was actually surprised when I got to the point where I could drink as normal.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
