I went on vacation while on my pre-op diet, which was awful, but not quite the same as 16 days post-op. Just from my experience with Carnival I have a couple of suggestions. Breakfast will be the easiest- they will have scrambled eggs, yogurt, and cottage cheese every day. lunch and dinner may be a little trickier, but they should have 1-2 Soups to pick from. If you're cleared for soft meats you can almost always find fish; just chew like crazy. I still would have been on pureed foods so small amounts of mashed potatoes, refried Beans, etc. would all be put to use.

I would recommend bringing a Blender Bottle and some Protein powder. It might be difficult to eat as often as you need to. There is always food around, but with the exception of the traditional meal times, it's all sandwiches, burgers, pizza, etc. So being able to mix some Protein Powder on the go might be helpful.

Carnival may not be very helpful when it comes to changing your cruise date, but they've always been accommodating to my food allergies and if you feel comfortable telling them about your restrictions, I bet they would go above and beyond to help you. But I also don't blame you if you don't want to tell them.

Have a great time, and good luck!

I went to England 5 weeks out! The day after I left, I started the solids stage, though, so it was a bit easier. Are you allowed Protein Shakes? Those definitely saved me at Breakfast time! And I pretty much lived on eggs and cottage cheese during that stage! I'm not sure if this was helpful or not! Have fun and good luck!!!

I went to Universal studios and rode the roller coasters on week. 3. You should be fine...great walking on the deck, healthy choices for dining, great gym...should be a blast. Continue to heal on the high seas!!! Wunderbar!

Instead of canceling or rescheduling cruise try getting in touch with the special needs department at Carnival and see what, if any, options they might have for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
