_Kate_ 2,224 Posted September 20, 2015 ..... For moaning about 1lbs but I have stalled for a while then weighed this morning and I have put on a 1lb. Now I know this will happen and I am certainly not sat here crying, or worrying, nor am I asking the usual, "What am I doing wrong", "Why can't I lose weight, sob", "WTH, my sleeve isn’t working, give me a refund" I know this is normal, I understand that. What I am asking is, has anyone just done a few days of liquids again and did it help? I do know the answer already, just want to hear others experiences in the hope it can help and encourage me and others Anyone? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted September 20, 2015 Are you regular? I mean a pound can be Water or BM. If you can stand it, try liquids for a few days and see if that jump starts you or increase your exercise. It looks like you have already lost over 1/2 your excess weight. Daisee68 2,493 Posted September 20, 2015 I had to go on liquid again due to a stricture. It was brutal! (Not just the vomiting part but the being restricted to liquids again. Having said that, I did lose 10 pounds in that 2 weeks. Not the way I want to do it But it seems that liquid only for a couple of days might jumpstart you. I guess different things work for different people, some need to increase and some step back to the previous stage and start again. Give it a try. Can't hurt! (But PS I just saw you posted re meds - maybe the HRT will help? Have you had your thyroid checked? My Synthroid wasn't absorbing correctly and my TSH was quite high at about 12 weeks post-op - 4.76. That is HIGH for me. I had my thyroid ablated due to Graves Disease so I have no functioning thyroid and survive off replacement only - much like my HRT since I no longer have those parts either. I feel much better close to 1-1.5 TSH.) My weight has been a very strange path all along though I'm not sure I really have hit a stall oddly. I may go 4 days without loss but then will lose 2 pounds, then up 1 pound, then down 1/2 pound then up a pound, etc. etc. It just keeps adding up though, so I haven't had to deal with the stall - thank goodness - so not sure I have great advice! While I'm only seven weeks out, I've gained a pound on three separate occasions, and so far, it always balances out and the pounds begin dropping again. I think it's just the body's natural process in response to the major upheavals it's going through after surgery, both physical and emotional. I weigh every day and chart the progress, so I can clearly see that it's a repeating cycle. Our bodies are very complex, and each day is different, in what we eat, our activity level, internal and external stress, etc., but the downward progress is undeniable. I told myself going in that it might take me a year or more to lose the weight after surgery. If it's achieved sooner than that, great, but my body will ultimately decide at what rate the weight will come off. One pound up doesn't negate all the other pounds down. Everything in its own time. Just sympathies and hugs from across the pond! @@Daisee68 I have a 22 year history of thyroid issues and know more about it than my GP which does annoy her lol. I had to fight our system to actually get NDT from Canada about 4 years ago and monitor my thyroid symptoms like crazy. Now I am on natural thyroid I haven't had any further issues. I have bloods every 2 months and they are fine at the moment. I also see the endocrinologist at the hospital once a year so all is tickity boo in that respect. Thank you for the hugs though, much appreciated! I have increased my food recently Bean to about 800 calories a day and I am week 8 1/2 today. I have found it difficult to increase though and perhaps my body just isn't ready yet. And taking drastic measures to lose a pound is just practicing the WRONG lifestyle. It's called yo-yo dieting, remember? And remember what yo-yo dieting does to your body? It gradually lowers your metabolic rate. And makes you even more batshit crazy. You need to learn patience and learn how to keep your eye on the prize. And you sound like one of those folks who shouldn't be weighing yourself every day. Put that scale away. Weigh once a week. Or once a month. I have never really asked for any advice here but have given it in bucketfulls. one of the biggest things I have suggested in stalls is to put the scale away and "keep your eye on the prize". As I said in the OP im not worried, agonising or moaning about one pound. Hell I wouldn't moan about 5lbs. I am not stupid nor am I lacking patience or common sense. If you had really read any of my posts since I have been here you would understand that. I asked a simple question, I am not a "batshit crazy" type of person nor am I a yo yo dieter suggesting going back to liquids for a little bit.
