Men's Section...Pretty Please

Recommended Posts

I know there is the men's thread, btu I think a real great addition to this site would be a section for men to post issues specific to them & thier Lapband journey.

Thanks,

Andrew

There already is one.... it's called Just Us Guys and you can find it here: http://http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/just-us-guys-28665/

I am well aware of the men's thread, but what I am hoping for is a section where men can post topics and start threads with issues realted to men kinda like the new life at goal or near goal section that was created.

This has been suggested before, and the sense among the moderators was that we didn't want to start creating support forums for all the various different groups that might spring up. Men, women, high-BMI, low-BMI, etc., would just splinter the main support area into special-interest groups. (Monthly support groups make sense, because people in those sections really do have everything in common, and what interests them ONLY interests them.)

The question becomes where do the special interests stop? Band-specific breakdowns seem logical, like Life at Goal, but drawing lines along gender or age or race or whatever seems like a step too far.

The topic is open for discussion, of course, but that was the mods' thinking the last time this came up.

I actually think it would be a great idea. So few men seem to post with regularity here, it might encourage more to become more active and support one another.

How about under the Main Lap Band Support heading?

I'm not a guy, so my vote proabaly shouldn't count...but I kind of like "The Men's Room" Or "Men's Support Forum"

OK, it's done. I'll move the sticky thread in there and leave it up to the guys to start new threads. Have fun!

Thank you very much, I think this will be a postive addition to the LBT and that it may encourage more guys to become active posters in other areas.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
