vgsmommy 7 Posted September 19, 2015 I recently had surgery on my leg. The suergy was very intisive which caused major swelling. I have gain 12 lbs since the surgery on Wed. 12 lbs is alarming to me (i was expecting only 5 lbs max gained) Has anyone else experienced the same thing? Should I be alarming by 12lbs. TammyDTM 391 Posted September 19, 2015 When you are having surgery they give you A LOT of saline. You were probably on it while you were in recovery also. Inactivity will also cause you to retain Water. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless there is swelling in your lower extremities. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
