Hi,

I am 3 months post operation, and yet I am still feeling very hungry.. Most people I know that had op or people I

met online with op say they don't feel as much hungry after operation.

Please help.

Thank you!

I am 6 1/2 weeks post op and have been hungry since day 2, and having cravings. I totally expected not to be hungry and certainly not have cravings but they are real.. some people say it is acid or I am thirsty, but I do not think so. So i guess there are some of us who are hungry and some of us who are not. Good luck, just try to eat right, I do not eat anything off the list I have from my surgeon and right now I stick between 700-800 calories and always Protein first.

Are you taking a PPI of any kind like omeprazole or prilosec? Sometime people have acid and the feelings can often imitate hunger pains. Other times people experience phantom or head hunger. If none of this applies to you, try to make sure the small amounts of food you are eating are filling. At 3 mths I would assume you can eat whatever you can tolerate. What is a typical food day for you?

Lawd I thought something was wrong with me I stay hungry. I still can't hold much but I can eat and in a hour or two I'm feeling like eating again. I'm scared I'm going to start gaining weight back. I haven't lost nor gained anything in over a month now. I thought with the surgery you will be less hungry. I think im hungrier now.

I am nine months post op and I get the hungry feeling every 3-4 hours usually. My surgeon said that it is normal for many to have that feeling and that I just need to eat little meals that often. My mom is 11 years post op and never got the hungry feeling.

Early on I had to do 3 small meals and 2 Snacks. Perfectly normal. I couldn't eat a whole lot at one time.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
