I've been "stuck" in the same 10 lb. range for about 6 months now. Very frustrating. I've been logging, counting, changing up exercise routine, decreasing caloric intake, increasing caloric intake, doing whatever I can think of to jumpstart the weight loss again. I do take satisfaction in the fact that I have not gained and have still continued to lose inches. I will press on!! :)

Are you in maintenance phase?

I stalled at week 5 post op, was stalled for about 2.5 weeks, now lost 2.5 lbs, but I could still see I was losing inches. It was hard not to see the scale move at that time but all I could do just stick to the plan.

@@GSleeve822 - No, I'm not in maintenance yet. Still working on getting to goal so I have about 40 lbs. more to go to get there. Just need to really buckle back down to doing all the same things I did after surgery. More shakes, higher Protein, I'm still exercising most days and staying active. The bad beast of snacking reentered my life earlier this year and he's being a bear to get rid of. I do still make more good food choices than bad ones. And because of my exercise, I am still losing some inches.

Stalling is such a killer. It takes me back to every single time I've dieted or lost weight. I see that I'm not losing right now, and want to give up. It's ridiculous how our minds work. I've done incredibly well so far and I just need to stay on track. It's hard when the scale either doesn't move or it goes up! Typically, it's the last thing to happen before I'd gain my weight back.

I agree. That is why I have found it so very useful to reframe stalls as something normal, natural, and necessary to the process.

I agree. That is why I have found it so very useful to reframe stalls as something normal, natural, and necessary to the process.
I've been really trying to just say ok, no big deal, and I've done ok with it. I can still feel the thoughts and anxiety lingering around all day still.

I think stalls are hard for all of us. Before surgery we tried so hard to lose weight... and I think those stalls are when we would jsut give in. But as long as we keep in mind its natural... It gives our bodies time to catch up... at first my weight fell of majorly fast... now its slowed down and isnt so crazy..

I have done really well so far, down 80 lbs in 4 months, weighing 210 which is smaller than I've been in a very long time. It's so crazy how we just expect to lose even tho it's obvious that bodies need to heal. I think I'm also pmsing which always makes me stall. I just constantly worry I'm doing something wrong whenever I'm not losing.

@InnerSurferGirl even though you posted it nearly a year ago, that's the best explanation of a stall I've read. I love the words you used... "dismantle a structure". I wrote it down and hung it on my bathroom mirror. You are QUITE an inspiration!!!

I appreciate it. The visual image really helps me. Especially the idea of my body as a massive warehouse full of shelves, fork lifts, conveyor belts, and little people in hard hats running around.

I definitely agree that both pre-and post-op, the stall is discouraging.

I certainly remember many times hearing my doctors and weight watcher people questioning why I wasn't losing weight when I was following the plan. That is definitely when I would give up and say, if restricting my food and enduring this deprivation doesn't work, why even try.

Thankfully, now, for me, giving up isn't an option.

Now that I have learned so much more about how my body works I have more patience. It makes me so much more willing and able to see a stall as an important and necessary part of the process. Not something to be feared or avoided. Plus, I don't weigh often enough to actually observe many stalls.

On retrospect, if I knew this 30-40 years ago, I MAY have saved myself from decades of yo-yo dieting and super morbid obesity.

I agree with you so much! I am pre-op right now and I have been losing weight with some stalls. I would have messed up by now because my previous thinking would have been "I'm depriving myself for nothing." Since I can't quit because I need to keep going to have the surgery, it has taught me some patience. I'm going into my 4th month and haven't given up. Usually it's the 3rd month. Good news is I have lost about 23lbs and while it's not coming off as fast as I would like, it has taught me more patience
