I'm 7 weeks and I've lost 25 since surgery. I did lose 15 prior surgery. So a total of 40.

You're losing almost 4 pounds per week. I think that's great. ????

I have noticed that I lose more when I get 80-100 grams of Protein and my Water. I almost always meet my Protein goal of 60-80 however it's difficult to exceed that.

Sure I get discouraged but I know that I'm doing exactly what I'm suppose to do and I've never lost 25 pounds in 7 weeks before. Thankful for every pound lost.

Good luck! You will lose it.

Weight loss from RNY gastric bypass surgery is due to Portion Control. So if you are doing everything the doctor ordered (meal volume restrictions, Protein, Fluid, and Vitamin requirements, along with exercise) then the weight loss should happen. Give it a little more time for the magic to happen.

As your meal volume increases the more you are post-op, you will have the opportunity to shift off your Protein supplements (protein shakes) if you concentrate on consuming high protein meals. Your protein requirement is the amount of protein from protein supplements combined with the amount of protein from meals. (So refigure you total protein intake whenever the regiment alters the meal volume.) This will reduce the calories that you are consuming with the Protein shakes and that can allow your weight loss to continue without stalling out.

The dr told me everyone's body reacts to this surgery differently... You may not lose alot right away, but if you do everything right it will come off :) I just started my journey but I have been doing ALOT of research :)

Lol my bestfriend keeps telling me "you didnt gain all this weight overnight so dont expect to lose it all overnight!"

LOL it's like yeah but no really, the weight IS supposed to just melt off me in the beginning lol

I'm down 40 lbs 6 weeks out. If that's not melting off idk what is.

I'm sorry don't get discouraged. You'll get there. Maybe need a jump start, ask your doctor how.

You and I are in a very similar situation. Tomorrow is six weeks for me, and I've lost 26 pounds. I completely understand your frustration and discouragement. We can only do what we're supposed to do and hope things get better. Regardless, the weight will come off and it will all be worth it, I'm sure of it. We both just have to keep thinking about that, and take care of ourselves in the meantime. Message me anytime if you want to talk/rant/commiserate.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
