Does salmon typically go down well? I'm craving grilled salmon with salt and pepper! It's on my plan but I don't want an adverse reaction to ruin it for me :)

Salmon was actually one of the first solid foods I ate after the surgery! It went really well for me. That being said, I've had an easier time than most other people when it comes to tolerating foods. Just go slow and listen to your body as you eat. Good luck!

Be careful not to overcook it. Dry salmon goes down rough! Lol

The trick with salmon is to eat only a few bites, then wait, and eat a few more bites. For me, it slides down quite well, and then I end up eating just a bit too much, and bam barf it all up. I'm two years out, so you'd think I'd have learned by now, but salmon is one of those foods that I absolutely must eat slowly or I get sick, likely because it ends up being so dense once it is actually in your stomach.

Salmon and other soft fish in general should go down well. I was advised to try and keep it as moist as possible to ensure it goes down smoothly.

Salmon is too heavy for me. And if it gets dry, you will regret life.

White flaky fish is much easier.

I eat quite a bit of salmon. Make sure you don't overcook it though. I tolerate it much better than any form of chicken, but have to eat it slowly and stop as soon as I feel full or it will come back up.

Fish and seafood are easier on my sleeve than chicken/poultry. I think because it's so soft ... If I do have chicken, I cook it in the crockpot and it purees well.

As with everything try a small bit and see how it sits then you can eat more.

Most people it seems have to issues with salmon, but I did! Hurt like heck first time I tried about a month out. Waited about 2 more months and had it again and it was fine!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
