Grateful, blessed, but NOT losing weight.

Recommended Posts

Three months out. Lost 35 pounds right away. Now, I'm NOT losing weight, 2 months now.

However I am noticing some changes, and my coworkers are too.

My bra is getting bigger - not losing weight though.

I have been taken off my supplemental oxygen forever - not losing weight though.

I am standing up straight more often - not losing weight though.

I am walking without my Rollator (walker) a lot - not losing weight though.

My clothes, some, are falling off me - not losing weight though.

I am able to go on mad cleaning streaks - not losing weight though.

Losing some of my huge chin - not losing weight though.

Upper arms flapping around - not losing weight though.

I am blessed with the above, I recognize it every day.

But how did these things happen when I am NOT losing weight? Honestly?

I have had several small stalls. You are exercising and the muscle you are building weighs more. I know that is not what you want to hear. It will come off, keep up the great work!!

I feel your pain, as I'm having a similar experience! Though I'm only a month out (1 month today, actually), I've only lost 17 pounds and I'm super disappointed, even though I have had several NSVs. Stalls are normal, unfortunately, but it seems to me that even though you aren't losing pounds, you're gaining your health. And that's really, really good!

Thanks for this post. I am 4 weeks out and lost 22# but I am at a stall and it is discouraging. I am excited that I can walk without back pain but would like to look nicer in my clothes ,Just was feeling that loss should be more! And not so early with plateaus

Two month stalls are NOT normal.

I'm not understanding things like dropping 2 sizes, or your breasts shrinking when no weight loss occured. Someone mentioned that muscle is heavier. Ok. Does body 'size' shift without weight loss? I don't get it. Where does it go? Is that fat hiding?

Are you getting in all your Protein and Water? What does your NUT advise?

Stalls are a part of the process, and as you are still noticing physical changes then it sounds like your body is working to change your body composition.

10 pounds a month is good. And it sounds like your body is making major adjustments, and that's good, too. Keep going.

Actually, I lost the 305 pounds within a month and a half.

LOL, I did a double-take. Your initial post said 35 pounds. This must be a Freudian slip. 35 pounds in a month is great!

Stalls aren't uncommon AND two-month stalls or stalls that go even longer can be quiet normal from what my doc told me. This is because usually weight loss is not linear. Couple that with the fact that depending on how long you've been over weight and a slew of other biological factors one can see how a "long" plateau can occur. It all boils down to how your own body reacts to weight loss. Of course you have to be very mindful of what you are eating too and make sure you are changing up the exercises.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
