larac05 41 Posted September 17, 2015 I have a little over a week before my big day. I bought several individual packets of Protein Drinks from my clinic to see what I might like best so I can purchase to have after surgery. Well so far they all gag me! Today I tried Bariatric Advantage iced latte. Sounds and smells great but the taste about made me throw up! I even have some crushed ice in it to try to help. If there is a shake that anybody likes, please share the name. I know I will need the nutrition after surgery but this stuff will make it impossible for me to get down. umo 86 Posted September 17, 2015 (edited) Congrats on your big day. I initially bought the Premier powder and I would mix it with almond milk but after I tried the premixed version, it is thinner and better now that am on full liquids. I bought it at costco and it tastes great. But remember your taste buds might change after surgery. Edited September 17, 2015 by umo
butterfly** 39 Posted September 17, 2015 I really like nectar syntax. It's sugar free and no carbs. I drink the Cappuccino every morning for Breakfast with skim milk. I've tried the other nectar flavors a as well and I like them. You can buy a sample pack from Amazon.
larac05 41 Posted September 17, 2015 Thanks for the suggestions. I got online and ordered a few more single serve packets to try and had my husband pick me up some Premier Protein that I will try tonight.
BypassedLife 39 Posted September 18, 2015 (edited) Syntrax nectar is great! I don't like most shakes and get tired of just having chocolate. So the nectar fruit flavors were a really wonderful thing to find. I bought a sample pack of all their flavors from "my bariatric pantry" Edited September 18, 2015 by Gina1209
Dar200 285 Posted September 19, 2015 I've liked the Premier Protein shakes. I mean I really like them! I guess that's a good thing but if I just think about them I want to go grab one. That will most helpful post surgery.

larac05 41 Posted September 27, 2015 It has been a long 2 weeks! I hate all of them. Premier Protein seems to gag me the least. Monday is my big day! My dr said I will have to drink my drinks at room temperature the first two weeks. Ugh....

Yaberhoo 358 Posted September 27, 2015 I was talking to a friend about Protein powders yesterday. He has dental implants and has been on a soft or liquid diet since the surgery. He suggested mixing the vanilla and the chocolate premier Proteins at a 50 50 ratio. He said that the chocolate is way too chocolaty but it helped if he cut it with the vanilla. food for thought. Daisee68 2,493 Posted September 27, 2015 I love the Premier Protein ready made drinks. I hated Synthrax Nectars. I also use Precision Engineered whey Protein Isolate and I really like it - both the chocolate and the vanilla. My favorite shake is Orange Crush Water Enhancer (either drops or stick of powder) mixed with vanilla Protein powder and Water and ice. Farther along, I was able to add a little banana to it. Really yummy. I also will mix 1/2 scoop of vanilla powder with 1/2 container of greek yogurt (really good with key Lime or strawberry cheesecake). I have also mixed a whole scoop of chocolate powder with a sugar free fat free chocolate pudding snack. It makes it pretty runny which is helpful during liquid stage (depending on what your dr will let you having during liquid stage.) For unflavored protein, I use Doc Hale's Whey-licious. In the very beginning when I couldn't get very much down, I could mix a scoop with 4 oz (yes as little as 4 oz) of Propel Fitness berry water. it didn't taste too bad and was such a small portion that I could get it down easier (though I might take an hour to get in 4 oz that first week until swelling goes down some). Everyone's tastes are different and even things you can handle pre-op, you may not be able to handle post-op (though that hasn't happened to me). You will eventually find something you can tolerate - even if you don't love them, you can get through it.
