Names of insurance companies that cover the sleeve, please?

It depends on the plan. I have Aetna (and have for the past 3 years) and my husbands company was purchased by a new company, and they excluded WLS halfway through my journey. I'm now going to Mexico.

I have BCBS, mine is 100% covered and they have a pretty basic approval process. Good luck!

I also have BCBS PPO through my employer and it is covered. Approval requirements were fairly easy as well.

It's not a question of which insurers cover it, it's the individual plans that determine that. My spouse and I have the same insurance carrier; mine covers it, the other plan doesn't.

I have that as well.. NYC employee?. Any who how long did you have to wait.. Is it 6 visits or 6 months/180 days.. Thanks

Sent from my LG-H820 using the BariatricPal App

NYC employee here. Surgeon told me GHI/Emblem Health requires 6 mon supervised plan by your PCP. I was fine with that. More time to prepare, get testing done, and mentally become ready. I get my sx date tomorrow. No issues with approval as of now (knock on wood).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
