What kitchen gear helped you through your WLS journey

Oo! Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for--a good (and affordable) scale.

I adore my food scale. What I like best about this one is you can easily switch between ounces and grams. Once I got it through my head that serving sizes almost always list a volume AND a weight, it was amazing how much easier things became for me. Rather than having to measure out a 1/2 cup of refried Beans, just put a bowl on the scale and put refried Beans in it until I get to whatever weight it lists. For me, it's just so much easier to measure by weight than by volume.

These are all great!! Thank you! I'm happy to see a couple things I already have. Did NUT classes teach you how best to weigh/portion/track/calculate your nutritional info?

the nutri ninja has been my savior at home, if you sign up on the bed bath beyond site you can get a 20% off coupon and if you time it right you can get one for a very good price i got mine for 74 dollars,

nd at work i use this, cheap at Amazon and works great.

but not to go off point but absolute staples that have made my life easier, are sugar free cool whip, not lite or fat free but sugar-free, and sugar-free pudding and Jello.

I think Bento Boxes are going to be lifesavers and I am really hoping to find some good freezer meal ideas--so far I've really liked the recipes from Eggface and the Protein Chef.

Thanks! I'm hoping the magic bullet I have is going to work for me (still in the box), especially in the first few stages. Have you seen some of the homemade whipped cream recipes from Life According to Eggface?

yea those arent sugar free though and still require heavy whipping cream, i stay away from sugar completely, at some later date i will re-introduce a lesser amount of some sugars in my diet but in this easy way out to use the sugar free cool whip, it just works for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
