newbeginnings1965 48 Posted September 15, 2015 I am a teacher and had the surgery over the summer. I had it at the end of july, but still went back to work 25 lbs less and no one noticed. Saw my family and no one noticed. I know my weight loss is coming off slowly but i thought people would think i looked a liitle smaller. Since my tummy is only 4 inches smaller i still can wear my same clothes, they are just looser. I wonder at what point do people notice your loss?
Newman19 44 Posted September 15, 2015 When I hit about 45 pounds. All of a sudden, everyone started noticing.
WPBFoodie 31 Posted September 15, 2015 I'm only 11 Days post op, down 20 lbs and no one notices, not even me. Years ago I did a couple of HCG rounds. No one noticed till I had lost 35 lbs. But I carry my weight all over. I think that makes it harder to decipher than someone for example who loses 20 lbs of nothing but belly fat
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted September 15, 2015 It took about 60 lbs before people started noticing for me, but I started out at a higher weight than you. So, my guess is that you will start hearing from people when you get below 200 lbs. Also, when you have lost some but not a huge amount, many people will be afraid to comment in case they are wrong, or they are just being too personal. And actually, it is kind of rude to comment on someone else's body for any reason. So, just tell yourself that you work with a lot of polite people who have good manners In my experience, once you start wearing clothes that fit better, more people will notice. Loose clothes do not make you look smaller, they actually make you look bigger than you are.
liannatx 897 Posted September 15, 2015 What @@Bufflehead just said! I could wear my same clothes during about the first 30lbs lost. They went from tight, to fitting, to finally just too big. When I truly sized out of my pants and finally got some that fit everyone started commenting.
*Lexie* 1,486 Posted September 15, 2015 I think around 50lbs is the magic number. I've read previous posts on the subject and people started noticing mine around 50lbs or so. Hang in there, soon you won't stop hearing about it.
Babbs 14,681 Posted September 15, 2015 You're not going to believe this, but 70 pounds. Before that, people would look at me like something was different, but would never say anything. It seems at 70 pounds EVERYBODY noticed! It's really crazy to me it took that much weight for people to notice.
Elode 8,093 Posted September 15, 2015 Every time I point it out to them!!! I have no shame
Micdruss 213 Posted September 16, 2015 It took about 35-40 lbs for people that really know me to start commenting. Funny story though. I am on a carnival committee for my kids school that I've done for the last 4 years and so deal with a lot of the same people each year. I have gotten tons of comments about "my new haircut" which is exactly the same as last year lol. I'm guessing the losing 75 lbs since April has helped my hair style look better ???? kell778 46 Posted September 16, 2015 I'm down 43 lbs and only people close to me notice, like my hubby. Just solidifies why I did it. Lol
GeekMomChanging 48 Posted September 16, 2015 I lost about 50 before people really said much. Now down 85, everyone notices. However the last 5 (170 to 165) people think I've lost a ton and I barely lost any.
AlanaRN 419 Posted September 16, 2015 About 50-60 lbs.
TealSister 296 Posted September 16, 2015 For people who know I had surgery (anyone who asked), they have commented all along to keep me going People from work and church who don't know I had surgery just started saying things this week (when I hit 90#). I started at 302 and am at 211, so it was a significant weight change before they noticed!
AngelaWilliamsMD 290 Posted September 16, 2015 I'm somewhat petite at 5'3, so within the first 10-15 pounds significant other was commenting on the difference. I KNEW I was looking smaller when I went to visit my parents (maybe 20 lbs lost at that point), and my mother commented, "Good, you're starting to look like my old Angie." bellabloom 2,467 Posted September 16, 2015 A lot of people still don't say anything to me. And I've lost 125!!! It's like they don't want to be rude or something. Sometimes people will say "you look great" but they won't mention weight. People don't realize but we knew we were fat before, and it's okay to say we've lost weight! That's why we did it, at least partly!! Some people do just come out and say it and I love that. It was about 30 pounds when people began to notice.
