I'm a month out and all I want is a salad. I see my NUT on Thursday but I'm so obsessed with this I can't wait until then to ask.....at what point can we start having raw veggies????

I saw my NUT this morning. She said I can start eating salads 7 or 8 weeks post op and to cut the veggies VERY small!!!

I was afraid it was going to be awhile. I'm just craving an Olive Garden salad soooo bad right now. It's ridiculous! Of all things to crave....

I ate raw veg from day 1. I added spinach to my Protein Shakes. Actual salad and veg I started reintroducing around 6 weeks. I'm a vegetarian so my body may be more accustomed to raw veg.

There really isn't much nutritional value to a salad, especially an Olive Garden salad. It's mostly just Water encapsulated in the lettuce. When you are allowed fresh veggies, I would recommend checking out a kale salad from your local grocers deli. Around here we have Meijers, Walmart, & Krogers that have kale salad and a Super food Salad. Much more nutrient dense.

Another thing, I used to love ranch dressing. Now it makes me want to gag. The sodium content is ridiculous. So whatever dressing you liked before, get it on the side.

I LOVE kale salads! At this point any salad will do. My husband has been obsessed with finding just the right kind of dressing for me, nutritionally speaking. I love French dressing but I know it won't be the best option.

I'm over a year out and still can't eat salad. I was supposed to be able to start raw veggies at 3 months post-op, but when I tried, it made me VERY burpy and uncomfortable. I have tried many times since then and the same thing happens every time. I can only eat cooked veggies.

I hope that doesn't happen to me Jamie...I prefer the crunch of raw veggies over mushy cooked ones. I think that's part of the reason I'm craving a salad...I want some CRUNCH.

I wasn't allowed salad until six months out, when I went off soft foods and into "normal" foods. I lived. This may be a good time to practice *not* giving into food cravings.

You are definitely a long way off from crunch. Along with not being allowed to try raw veggies until 3 months post-op, I was also told no crunchies until 3 months (crackers, chips, nuts, etc.).

I love salad and I was told I could eat shredded lettuce and skinless tomatoes at 1 month. However nut didn't recommend because there is little Protein. At about 2 months I ate a bit of Tomato since they were in season after I ate my protein.

I would eat my Protein first which would probably be chicken on top of my salad.

I've never craved veggies in my life, and now I can't wait until I can eat them! I'm 2.5 weeks post op, and I get to add veggies back in at 4 weeks (for soft veggies, 6 weeks for raw). My plan allows real food very early on, but pretty much exclusively high Protein foods, like cheese and meats. I want those veggies!

An Olive Garden salad may not be the best thing, however there are loads of benefits to be had if you make a good nutritious salad. Most dark green leafy veg contain Protein. Additionally you get healthy doses of Vitamin A, K, Iron and plenty of Fiber.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
