India928 81 Posted September 15, 2015 I have surgery tomorrow and while I am not planning on running a marathon I am wondering when, what and how much exercise I should look to incorporate once I am sent home I will be home for six weeks starting today. Any suggestions are appreciated. Also, I own an elliptical machine - would you say that's equivalent to walking, or should I just stick to the good ole' normal walking - one foot in front of the other. Thank you
Twinmomma422 54 Posted September 15, 2015 Mine said walking for 5-6 weeks depending on my recovery. After then you can slowly add heavier exercise after surgeon clears you.
Threetimesacharm 1,400 Posted September 15, 2015 The elliptical is much more strenuous than walking. My surgeon said 3 weeks until more than just walking but IDK I think for me that may be too soon. I am just going to listen to my body. So I say walk, walk, walk!!
soatlast 16 Posted September 15, 2015 Mine said to wait for clearance, but usually around 6 weeks post-op. My fitness specialist at the weightloss center told me that I should continue doing stretches about 3 weeks out, but nothing that would get me down on the floor or crunching my stomach. WPBFoodie 31 Posted September 15, 2015 Walk walk! I'm 11 Days post op. Woke up feeling so great this morning that I hopped on my bike. Couldn't help myself, she was just standing there staring at me in the garage. Felt great. But by afternoon my stomach was sore and I slept for 3 hours
