I have a surgery date!

Recommended Posts

Coordinator just called with a date of October 12th! Also mentioned that there was a hiatal hernia that will be repaired as well...

As excited as I am to finally have a date, I am equally as nervous. It's finally happening! Anyone else with a date on the 12th? Or October!

I already had my surgery a month ago but CONGRATS on your date! You must be very excited about it, I know I was. Don't be nervous, you will be great. Don't bring too much stuff to the hospital either because chances are you won't need it. Best of luck!

Thanks so much!! How is everything going so far? I know that four weeks will fly by, hoping that the pre op liquid phase goes by fast!

I just got scheduled for October 22nd! They had an opening on Oct 3 that I really wanted, but my friend is going with me as my companion and wasn't available. I start the preop diet in 3 weeks. Until then, I am having a food Farewell Tour and enjoying some favorites for the last time for a long long time. I am also buying some samples of different Protein shakes to see which ones I like.

Good luck!

Congratulations! I too am having a little farewell party to "bad" foods this week.. Particularly Chinese which I LOVE egg rolls! Feel like I'm having a funeral and wake all together.. ????

I am going today to start testing out Protein Shakes, I heard premiere Protein is pretty good and high in protein, 30 grams I think, you can get it in bulk off Amazon and even with prime(free shipping)!

Let me know which ones you prefer!!

Oh and I am also Vitamin shopping as well, my vit d was low and I really need to start those this week!

Mmmm I had chinese last night. I purchased the sampler from powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. I've only had the chocolate supreme so far and it was pretty good! I typically don't like Protein shakes so I was excited.

Hello - when did you begin the whole process? I am going to my first appointment Friday and I am wondering how long it takes before they set a survey date?

PS good luck with your surgery! It's the beginning of the rest of your life! :)

Mine is October 1st!! Congratulations on your date! I have, until now, been anxious and yet calm. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow, so now I am both excited and nervous. My life as I know it now will come to a sudden halt in tomorrow and even more so in 2 weeks. Kind of a daunting thought, but it is true. While there is the confidence all will go well, there is always that nagging question, "What if it doesn't for some reason?"

There is also, for me, the element of grieving over loss of foods. Intellectually, I know it's for the best, it's what is right, and it's ultimately what I want. I pray I am one of the lucky ones whose appetite decreases so that I don't feel the loss as severely as I fear I might.

Good luck with your surgery!! I will be praying for you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
