_telia_ 10 Posted September 15, 2015 As I am posting this at 2:39am, night 5 has been a rough one. When were you able to sleep on your side without discomfort?

amaral1407 11 Posted September 15, 2015 My surgery was 08/31 and just trying to sleep is living hell. I think the most sleep i have gotten is a total of 5 hours at one time. Trying tonight zyquil to see if that helps.
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted September 15, 2015 It was about two weeks for me. It helped to have a body pillow to use as a prop, something to lean against while sleeping,
slvarltx 332 Posted September 15, 2015 How much are you walking everyday? I had some pretty bad pain at the large incision site and just getting in and out of bed took some serious planning. At first I was just managing maybe 1/2 a mile a day. On day 7, I was really irritable and just went for a 3 mile walk. During the walk, I felt the muscles at the incision site relax and by day 10, the pain was gone.
del112 62 Posted September 15, 2015 I slept on my stomach two days after surgery . It helped with the gas.

I wish I could sleep on my stomach but I use a cpap machine.

_telia_ 10 Posted September 15, 2015 @@_telia_ Which side? If it is your right side, it is because of your liver. Yeah it's my right side. I guess I didn't think too much about that! Thanks for the reply. They took a biopsy of my liver during the operation.
Seg1234 1 Posted September 15, 2015 Walking definitely helped, in my opinion. Also, I am a stomach/side sleeper -- I had a rough first two nights, but then wore my binder (large elastic belt-like thing I got at the hospital -- it pretty much covered entire lower half of my torso), I was able to sleep comfortably on my side and stomach. It kind of holds everything in so I didn't get those painful, pulling feelings.
