Exercise has always been a hobby, but now I can push myself further and further than I could. I always wanted to be able to, but physically couldn't do all I wanted to do.

I love cycling..

Always wanted to be a runner and could never run more than 3-5 minutes at a time, now I can run almost 2 miles without stopping.

I want to be a triathlete..

I love crossfit, weight lifting..

I love extreme sports.

Taking a minute to boast here!! This was September.. running 2 miles at a time.. and now I'm up to 5-6 miles at a time, and completed a half marathon where I didn't stop running for 10.5 miles.. AHAH!

Well - I have always had a lot of hobbies. I think I will enjoy them much more now.

I still enjoy cooking - lots of people to cook for in my family so I get my little bit and it's nice. I just have one child (out of 7) at home - the other hungry young adults are there pretty often for some home cooking too. two college students who are home part of the year.

We like to hike, and I am excited to be physically able to do longer hikes at some of the parks we love. The diabetes sidelined me for a couple of years and I could only do shorter hikes. I miss the rambles.

I quilt, sew and crochet, and I am looking forward to going back to making some of my own clothes when I get to maintenance.

I have a rose garden that has not been as well tended as I would like. This year is shaping up differently because I now have the energy to devote to it.

I love to sing and play the flute. I want to learn to play piano. My son has tried and tried to teach me, and I am just going to keep trying.

I recently wrote a short novella for a fanfiction site, and it was well received, I believe I would enjoy doing more of that.

I am hoping to get back home to Michigan next winter for snowshoeing and skiing, as it has been YEARS since I have done that, and looking forward to July for swimming and beach time. (beach time - that's a laudable hobby, yes?)

I also love shooting - and archery. I can only really do that to my liking when I am home on the farm, but it is enjoyable. We shoot rifles in the winter and archery when I visit in the summer. I only see out of one eye, really, and I think it gives me an advantage. I'm a crack shot if I do say so myself.

I plan on getting back to bicycling and possible competition shooting sports again.

And of course spending quality time with the G-kids.

I used enjoy being outside a lot, and looking forward to having the energy again to do these things.

I read, exercise, learn German with an AP and look for healthy, tasty recipes to cook.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
