I always overpack so I won't bore with all the stuff I took with me!! Think makeup and nail polish!! LOL

However, what were my lifesavers was Biotene mouthwash to help with dry mouth and a small travel pillow to brace my stomach with. Could not have made it without those two items.

Being a guy, I guess I don't need to pack much.

I only brought my CPAP machine, a change of clothes, my cell phone, keys and wallet.

The only things I wish I had brought:

My favorite pillow - it would have made sleeping and the ride home easier.

Water for my CPAP machine - the sterilized Water they provided me had a hideous smell! It was so bad, I could taste it! :-(

I was only in the hospital overnight, so I didn't need much.

My hospital provided most of what I needed so I packed super light. I brought a toothbrush, deodorant, my iPhone, iPad, chargers, and a pair of large panties. I got petroleum jelly from the nurse for my lips. My doctor started me on a stool softener and PPI (omeprazole) in the hospital. I just wore 2 gowns for walking. I live less than 30 minutes from the hospital and didn't really have a lot of pain so I didn't need a pillow. I wore a lose fitting t shirt dress to the hospital and wore the same thing to come home. I used those socks with grips on the bottom that the hospital provided for walking.

For me a sweater and a pillow for the ride back. And even a pillow they had given me but these places are always so cold. So I suggest taking a sweater along.

Hi. Your personal pillow, tablets, iPod or iPhone. books or magazines to read. I need ear plugs because with all the machines beeping through out the night you wouldn't be able to get any sleep.

Slip on shoes you feel good in walking in, elastic waist shorts (keeps bum shots away), ear phones, music or movies and gas x strips (vital in my opinion)

BTW, good list over here: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/350510-what-will-i-need/

Toothbrush. Hairbrush. Chapstick. Deodorant. Phone/books whatever for entertainment.

I wore sweatpants and a loose shirt and hoodie to the surgery, wore the same thing home.

The hospital gave me socks with grippies on the bottom and I just cruised around in those.

Good luck! This was the best decision I've ever made!

The hospital basically provided everything I needed.

Only things in my bag I needed was my pillow, chapstick, headphones, and extension cord for my charger!

A nurse did bring me ear plugs in the night because she felt so bad that the patient next to me screamed all night!

Good luck!

I took my cpap and a clean pair of underwear. It was glorious just being there with no distractions. It felt meditative and healing. I brought home tons of crap they gave me though. :-)

I brought a ton of stuff but I'll list the stuff I actually used. Robe, slippers, advance directive, chapstick, hand sanitizer, Lysol wipes, toothbrush, toothpaste, face wash, deodorant, lotion, and charger. I had to use hospital soap for my shower so I didn't use the body wash I brought. I just walked alot and slept alot both days. I didn't need any of the other stuff I brought for entertainment. Trying to get the liquids down was a task in itself.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
