So I am 3 weeks post op and starting to get discouraged. I lost almost 30 pounds but stepped on the scale and it says I have gained! I just started my soft food phase but don't eat alot of soft food maybe once or twice a day. I am still struggling with my Fluid intake and I know my shakes are getting harder to keep up with becuase I don't feel hungry. So how am I gaining? I feel like I am going to fail

Search "3 week stall"...it's not you. Almost everyone hits a stall on week 3. Don't let it get you down. YOU WILL START LOSING AGAIN. ;)

Hi, this is normal, it just your brain thinking that you might be starving yourself. It will take some time for it to understand what you did. Keep going with your diet and exercise. Esp. Proteins and liquids.

Good luck! ;)

Step away from the scale. If you are the person who gets upset at seeing the numbers go up and down on the scale, then put it away. You weight will go up and down. It may even stall at times. If you are following the program, getting in your Protein, drinking enough water/fluids and some sort of exercise 30 minutes a day, even if it's just walking, you will lose. Instead use some sort of online food diary or app. and take your measurements (neck, boobs, waist and hips). These will tell you how your body is changing. A food diary will also help you watch your sodium/carbs/sugars as well as your Protein.

For the first 6 months I didn't get weighed unless I was at the doctors and I showed a loss every time. Even now I weigh myself either once a month or when I am at the doctor's, whichever comes first.

What is important is to get in the minimum 60gms of protein and 64ounces water/fluids. Most people actually aim for more than 60gms of protein since it may help prevent hair loss.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
