I have started a pre-op diary to remind me how being overweight makes me feel. In life in general, in clothing, shopping for clothes, eating etc...

I noticed recently that a selfie taken with my partner before heading out for a quick dinner I hid behind her for the most part. How sad...

I also asked her to take pre-op photos of me in a bra and underwear and I was so shocked....it's a slightly different picture than the one I see in the mirror when I am dressed and with my trusty Spanx on.

Come on January!!

Do it! Keep pics, journal your "adventure". If only for yourself.

I wish I had taken more pics and written down my experiences more.

In a year, you'll look back and be glad to have all these pics and stories to remind you of how far you've come. :-)

Nurse Lenora I think your pre-op diary is a great idea. I didn't start a pre-op diary, but I have many reminders of past weights, pictures, etc. for me to look at on my journey. I don't ever want to get back to 295lbs again and I while I don't want to dwell on the bad, it's good to have a reminder of how hard it was being that weight. Good luck on your journey!

I, too, just had my husband take pre-op pics and measurements. Dear Lord. But he's seen me naked, so the numbers don't much matter to him, right?

A diary is such a great idea. I'll add that to my list this week!! I'm sad I have NO pictures together with my husband in his uniform. That's the FIRST picture I'm taking once I lose 50 lbs. He is my rock.

No matter what you need to do to keep reminding yourself how it is/was when heavier, do it. I started my WLS journey just over 2 1/2 years ago and have been in maintenance for about a year now. I've started getting used to some of the things I can do now that I couldn't before but still can have things take me by surprise...even simple things.

I was flying back to NYC on Saturday night, and without thinking, put my feet up on my carry on bag to get comfy while waiting to board the plane. Couldn't have done that even two years ago. Every step I take is a reminder of what I can do now vs. what I couldn't.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
