I want to take the medicine again for panic attacks. It was the best medication I ever took. I am afraid that my surgeon would cancel my surgery. Please people tell me why your on it? Thank you in advance

I'm not on Celexa, so I don't know how helpful I can be, but I am on other psych medication for anxiety. I'm still on track for surgery. When in doubt, call your surgeon's office and ask.

I have been on Effexor and Valproic Acid for 14 years for panic attacks and major depression.

My bariatric surgeon was told, he has the whole list of meds I take from the pharmacy.

No problem whatsoever, I had my bypass 4 weeks ago and am doing wonderfully.

Good luck to you, you will be fine .

@@RGraham87 The only reason the surgeon would cancel your surgery is if there was a danger to you. Ask your surgeon and/or your psychiatrist.

I miss celexa I was on it but on a high dose and my psychiatrist was afraid of blood clots due to the high dose and my weight. Maybe I can get back on it after surgery...

I'm on citalophram - the generic for Celexa. I'm on it due to depression and I have been for many many years. It was not an issue to get approved for WLS at all.

I'm on Citalopram for depression and have been for years. Was not a problem at all with my surgeon. I had to do their psyc Evan etc in the program and had no issues that would postpone surgery. Better to be on the medication than not

I've been on Celexa for 8 years. My surgeon did not advise me to stop and the surgery went ahead as planned. The only caution I was given was to be on the lookout for the possibility of it not working as effectively post-op due to the malabsorption issue. If that was the case then my dosage would've needed to be tweaked. Thankfully, the surgery hasn't seemed to have impacted anything so far (4 months post-op)! :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
