AWD12368 30 Posted September 14, 2015 So I am sick... Normally I would drink hot tea with honey. But can I do this now since I my surgery? Thanks for any help (I am going to call my NUT tomorrow morning but my throat is killing me now and I am hoping to get some relief tonight)
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted September 14, 2015 She may say no. Honey is very high in sugar. I use it on occasion, but I can't have artificial sweeteners. Perhaps try a peppermint or herbal tea instead.

#9grammy 274 Posted September 14, 2015 I would say yes you can have honey for your tea. Your throat hurts and it will help it, one cup of tea with honey isn't going to hurt. It's when you have that second and third cup, that is what gets you in trouble. Occasionally sure, I have one now and then in the winter months or sometimes when I can't sleep. It's not a every day thing.

Can I take anything like night quil? I'm not sure. I don't see why not, I have to take Zyrtec daily and I was able to resume them day 2 post op. I would check with the doctor to be sure, but you should be able to.

Thanks for any help (I am going to call my NUT tomorrow morning but my throat is killing me now and I am hoping to get some relief tonight) I've been under the weather a few times since surgery and drink hot Tea with honey every now and then...it hasn't affected my weight loss one bit... Go for it..as long as it's not an everyday thing

BigViffer 3,544 Posted September 14, 2015 I know my NUT had some recipes that used honey for sweetner. So I doubt there is any issue with it as long as you don't go crazy with it.
