can you SEE or FEEL your port under your skin????

Recommended Posts

I can see mine and feel it, too. It's comforting to know that I can feel the little "bubble" where the fills go so I know that it's not flipped.

That's great that you are getting yours moved, DonnaD. I hope the new placement goes well for you.

I saw Dr. Yau today and he is going to move my port to where I originally asked for it - in the bikini area. It is done under local and my date is July 26 - no problem and no charge. I'm Happy!

Hi Donna,

I'm getting banded by Dr. Yau on July 26th at 1pm. I want to have my port placed in the bikini area, so hope he will agree.

Hey KathyBad;

It's Peaches9 {{wink, wink}} here.... just thought I'd let you know how I am doing.

Its Day#5 post op and I am on Full Fluids now YIPPEE can't tell you how much of a differnce that makes!!

I feel terriffic too, plenty of energy.. I've been taking long 45-60 min walks, went hiking down a gorge yesterday! sleeping well, no pain... the odd gass bubble but definetly less than before.. so I havn't taken any tylenol in 2 days.

I only took my TORODOL for OP Day and Day #1 post op... didnt' need it after that. Also found out that I didnt' need the liquid tyl. I just bought the 500mg tablets and cut them into 1/4's and they went down just fine...

I am also down 13#'s since my pre=diet began Jul 3rd.. so I am very pleased with those results.

We should keep in touch byemail... can you send me your address??

are you getting excited? have you started your pre-0-p diet yet???

shoot, Kathy... I forgot to mention I asked Dr. Yau if my port could be between my breasts below the rib cage (area).... I said i didn't want it interfering with doing sit ups or YOga....

I woke up and guess where he put it??? an inch to the left and below my navel.... so I guess that's my "bikini area" LOL

The one thing that no one said is when you can feel it and know where it is them the Doc can find it better when it comes time to fill or un fill. Also I do kickoxing and get kicked in the stomach sometimes and no one has noticed it, and nothing has happend to it. I have lost around 100 pounds and have kept it off for over a year.

My port is on it's side so it does stick out a little. At first it hurt if I did too many sit ups, too much bending forward , when I was gardening , ect, but slowly that has gone away. Eventually I would like it fixed, but for now it is good. :(

I can't see it but I can feel it if I press down on the area.

My port was placed directly between the breasts about an inch below the bra line. I could never see it but I could feel it and I got into the habit of playing with it while lying on the couch watching prime time TV.

Now that I have cancer and have lost more weight than I had originally planned on losing as a result of this I can see my port. By the way, my patient notes list me as having a BMI of 21.5 and then remark that patient is slightly above healthy weight range!!!! So now I am sick and confused, eh. LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
