In the past, when I went to amusement parks, I typically didn't go on rides out of embarrassment that I felt people were looking at how I barely squeezed into a seat for a ride or even worse, being told I can't ride a particular ride because of my weight or the restraint system won't properly close (that happened twice, I was more embarrassed for my children to have people looking a their Dad like that).

Well, not yesterday. I went to the amusement park with my children and went on many rides including ones in the past I would never have been able to fit properly into the seats or weighed too much to ride.

For the first time in many years, I did not feel like people were staring at me because of my weight.

Although to be honest, I was nervous on some of the rides before I went on them that the restraint system may not close all the way and I will need to get off the ride.

This is only one of many NSVs I have experienced since losing weight. I look forward to the new ones every week.

Please share yours.

Finally being able to wear a pair of boots that fit over my calves! Oh, and size 6 skinny jeans ;)

My latest NSV was when I had to take in the band on my shoes (two holes smaller round my toe area and three holes smaller on the instep). These are shoes I wear every day for work and it was only when my hubby said I was wearing them like lose flip flops, that I tightened them. I was VERY shocked. How can you lose so much on your feet in the space of a few short weeks??!!

Just had someone who was rude to me when I was on Match.com a couple of years ago ping me Match yesterday, and wanted to know if I was interested in meeting. She didn't realize we had already met, but this time she said said she liked "fit guys who took care of their bodies." I still think she was a b*tch, but I'll take the compliment as an NSV.

Finally being able to wear a pair of boots that fit over my calves ;)

Knee boots that have the ankle zipper were the bane of my existence! My daughter had been wearing a pair someone bought me because I barely got them on, and they wouldn't go up my calves. They do now! NO, my darling daughter, you may NOT wear them this year....! NSV! (Can I also say that I teared up, it was THAT emotional.)

My latest NSV was really a Negative NSV! :-P

I found a shirt I really wanted BAD!

It was the only one in purple they had.

And it was 3 sizes too BIG!

I was too thin to wear it. :-)

When I got to my heaviest weight of 290 I had to stop my seasonal job of catering at football games because of back problems. My boss was very sad and begged me not to quit because I had done it for four years and was a reliable, hard worker.

Fast forward seven years and I told her I was ready to work again now that I'm 122 pounds lighter. Last Saturday she said she needed someone who could get from one side of the stadium to the other as fast as possible carrying a 20 pound box. Out of four young, fit women in our kitchen she picked me.

Damn my arms are sore still...but she picked me. I grew up overweight and was always one of the last ones to be picked for anything physical. Now I'm much smaller. And much faster. ????

I'm so happy for you, OP! I had a similar embarrassing experience at Universal studios and have never been back since (I live in Orlando, and it breaks my heart to not be able to go anywhere but plus size-friendly Disney). I'm still too big for the coasters, but not for much longer, so I hope to experience the same NSV soon!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
