Many people were on different diets it further surgery and the whole point of the diets were to shrink your liver. My surgery is in 16 days

I was on a 10 day low fat, high Protein diet and yes, the purpose was to shrink my liver so they had enough room to work.

I am getting shaky. Had a lean meat and veggies for Breakfast and lunch. I had a apple with Carmel so I had some sugar in my diet. I am still shaky. I wonder if my body needs more sugar. Isn't that a disease?

you probably need some Protein.

My doctor prescribed 3 Protein shakes a day for a total of 90 g of Protein.

I was allowed boiled or steamed vegetables.

So basically, no carbs! I did very well, first 2 days are the worse then, you get used to it. I am diabetic, it was good for my control for sure.

This diet was for 14 days before.

I am now 3.5 weeks post surgery, lost 21 lbs and doing very well.

Good luck !

My insurance required six months of "assisted weight loss" (i.e. nutrionist) with a goal of losing 5% of my weight from my first appointment to the sixth month before they would authorize the surgery. My doctor wanted me to go even further and lose 30-50 pounds before the surgery and putting me on a "lean cuisine" diet. I actually went with Healthy Choice mixed in with Jimmy Dean breakfast bowls and lost a little over 40 pounds in that 6 months (I stalled out for about 3 months though during that). He put me on a clear liquid diet 3 days before surgery (Water, broth, and Jello that didn't have to be sugar free), and I lost an additional 13 pounds that way.

liquid diet for two weeks before surgery. Three to four Protein shakes a day made w skim milk or Water, unlimited amount of low sodium chicken, veggie, or beef broth, and sugar free Jello.

I got sick of broth and Jello within the first few days and just stuck with Protein Shakes for most of the two weeks.

Now I'm sick of Protein shakes and am eating soft foods.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
