And i didnt know how to answer it. The question was "how do you stop losing weight when you reach your goal?" I honestly have never given this one thought. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

There are a lot of people who have given advice on this in the past. I am not to that point yet but one person posted that they will eat a tablespoon of Peanut Butter every night and that has helped. Others say that your body will adjust as you are able to eat more and you will slow down/stop.

"how do you stop losing weight when you reach your goal?

@@brandon_g

eat a whole bag of chips and dip every night for the rest of your life!! :D

kidding, kidding, kidding ;)

one way is to up your calories a little

don't go overvboard!!!

you can/should talk to your surgeon/NUT for advice

i vote for eating a "few" more calories, little larger amount of food

continue to follow the rules you've learned

still talk to NUT

chewing

Water

protein

etc

moderation by eating a "little" more

don't go overboard

NO conflict in terms here

good luck

Well that is an issue for some of us. Mine is in my head. I have been losing weight for so long my head is telling me to not stop losing, it gives me a thrill to see the weight come off. However, I am 5'9 and 126. I will bounce between 124 and 128. It is a struggle all on its own.

Unless you develop an eating disorder (see @@miller1109 's post above), it's quite simple. Every few days or every week or so you just eat an extra 100 calories ... until you stop losing.

For those who don't track their calories / macronutrients / food using a tool like My Fitness Pal and who don't really know how much they're eating, it can be challenging.

But even they can add a handful of nuts to their daily menus or an extra Greek yogurt or some bread at dinner.

For me, the challenge in maintenance has been to eat a little more nutritious food and not just over-processed foods. I have so learned to appreciate since I was sleeved which foods are full of nutrition and which are full of ingredients that just make me crave sugary, high-carb, over-processed crap. Slider foods will push all your craving buttons, making you struggle not to regain.

You eat more. Simple. Make it healthy stuff though.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
