Miz.Phenom 32 Posted September 12, 2015 So I'm on my 4th day of pre op liquids only diet...and oh my freakn goodness its crazy to think that a lot of people went threw this. Sept 23rd feels so far away. Trying to stay strong...and busy. Any tips?
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted September 12, 2015 Stay really busy. Drink all the Water you can stand, add some flavor to it. Stay really busy. Say 4 is really the make or break point. If you have made it this far, the rest is downhill. Make sure you have some variety in your liquid, and stay focused.
pindoctor 49 Posted September 12, 2015 I found the easiest way to get through the pre-op diet (2 shakes and 1 small meal and one small serving cottage cheese) was to eat the regular meal in the middle of the day (so I would not be hungry at work) and have the Protein shake in AM and PM. Then I had small serving of cottage cheese at night so I wouldn't starve all night. It really sucked for the first 3 days but was easier after this.
_Kate_ 2,224 Posted September 12, 2015 I did 18 days of just drinks and it was hard but once you are past day 5/6, it gets so much easier. I really do believe that doing the liver reduction diet prepares you for after surgery. It's not such a shock to your system as well as dealing with the aftermath of major surgery!! McButterpants 2,846 Posted September 12, 2015 It's hard, it really is. I drank a lot of Decaf green tea to help get thru. I remember looking at my teenage son at one point during the pre-op diet and just started to cry. It is difficult, but hang in there. It is so worth it.
