Jewels

I'm so sorry to hear all the problems you've been having. It's hard enough with no problems let alone what you are going through. I think it would be unusual if you didn't have regrets with what you are going through. I hope it passes soon.

Hi Casper,

I am doing well. I am down 40# since my preop diet and 26.4 since surgery. Less than 1/2 of a pound and I am in Onderland! I am sorry to hear you have slowed. I am slowing down from the first few weeks but I did not stall. I am doing well with food, I am able to take in all forms of Protein with no problem as long as they are moist, I do not need to puree. That feels great! I have been walking and I feel great. I am thinking about trying some other things for exercise, I will be released this week for more activity.

How about you?

Jewels, I am wondering about you too, are you doing better?

Hey Jennolsen ,

I'm doing well. How are you? How is the weight loss?

So far things are going well. I still have to figure out what works and what doesn't. Losing weight slowly but surely.

I never heard back from Jewels. ???? I hope she is ok.

Nice to hear from you.

I am doing great. Down 56.8 over all, 45 since surgery. I am exercising and feeling stronger every day. Not so sure what to do in times of stress yet but I'm working on that. Good to hear from you too.

Jennolsen ,

That's great. So far in down 71 lbs since starting the pre op diet and 42 since surgery. I've been going to the gym also. I over did it one day but I got in a groove now. Yes I haven't had any stress yet so I'm not sure how to handle it either. I'm also dealing with the holidays. I'm so used to eating all the comforting things when now I'll be lucky to have a peice of turkey. But it's all about finding a new us. New ways to live and be healthy. We will see how it goes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
