Telemetric Easy Band

Recommended Posts

:help:Does anyone else have the "Easy" band?

I had one fitted in Manchester in March & at first completley lost my appetite resulting in a weight loss around 14 lbs. My appetite then returned, as predicted because it seems to be caused purely by the operation, & I found I had almost no restriction. After the requisite 8 week wait I was reduced from the open state of 29mm to 25mm under x-ray. Still I had little restriction & actually gained 2lbs! Last adjustment to 23.8mm & although I have slight restriction with some foods especially bread & I do eat slowly I could still eat a largish meal. Ok, I do realise one has to "work" with the band & I have to admit I haven't always managed my 10,000 daily steps but has anyone else had this experiance?

At what point I wonder will this famous "sweet spot" be reached? As I understand it the easy band can only close to 20mm so I've not got far to go although I'm told only small adjustments are safe at this point. I also notice fizzy drinks don't have any adverse effects? I've also had a few strange chest pains, anyone else?

Come on you "easy company" bandsters, this may be brilliant technology but does this thing really ever work?

As you say, you have to work with it. I would recommend concentrating on the foods that you know will help the restriction. Anything too soft like Soups, mash potatoes etc will glide easily through and so you will feel that you are able to eat quite a lot. I have been to the surgeon lately for a fill and was told to be wary of Pasta. they fill you up but also glide through the ring.

I have been through a period of 8 months with no or little restriction, it takes time to adjust the band to the setting that suits you. I was told that possibly, some of my stomach had been caught in the band originally giving me restriction and when it escaped, I was left feeling wide open! Not sure about that explanation.

However I have lost 5 stones since op and am hoping to start losing some more now I have a better restriction (not great but better). You will also note all those that have lost quite a lot of weight on this forum. My thought is that it does work. We all want an esy ride, after all we had no willpower in the first place otherwise we would not have had the band, so it is no use asking us to have willpower now!

As I said, try to stick to food that will fill you and you will soon start losing all that extra weight. meat is very good for me. I feel stuffed after half a slice of beef or half a breast of chicken!

Don't lose hope, keep in there and let us know how you get on!

It is hard to remember to eat foods that help the restriction but it is a good way to go. I think we're all guilty of eating soft foods becuase there's a fine balance between stretching your pouch, pbing and having discomfort and getting good and satisfied for several hours.

Ironically the best food for me is bread. Eat a sandwich for lunch everyday (which I dont really like much, never have liked sandwiches) and I lose weight reliably. EAt things like salads with Protein and I'm picking by 3pm.

I'm not one to avoid bread, its not a no no here in australia generally, so I guess that's lucky.

My band defnitely works best when I eat "difficult" foods.

Oh, and I've just been on a 10km run before dinner and can barely eat a mouthfull - exercise right before eating works well for me too!

I'm sure you'll hit your sweet spot. Remember though that sometimes even sweet spots can change.

How is everything else with the telemetric band? Have you sopken with anyone else that has this band? How are they doing?

I'm having my surgery done on Aug 25th and originally I was interested in the telemetric band. It was more expensive but I figured it was worth it not to have to deal with needles. Once I had my consult they actually talked me out of the telemetric band because they said it really is only effective for higher bmi patients because the band is quite large. My bmi is 41. They did say they would do it if I really wanted it but advised me that I'd likely have better results with a ap band. Thats what I opted for.

I've been told it's (the telemetric band) undergoing more tests to improve it. I was pretty impressed they actually advised me to go with the less expensive option as it showed me that they really do want you to have the best result. So many so-called lap band doct out there could care less about after care.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
